Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from my first visit?

The purpose of your first visit is for you to get to know us, and for us to get to know you. Dr. Farr is available to answer any questions you have about your dental care and address any specific concerns regarding your smile and dental health. We will usually take some x-rays, and Dr. Farr will spend the rest of the time meeting with you and completing a comprehensive exam and cleaning.

What if I haven't been to the dentist in a while?

That's no problem! We all get busy and forget to make time for ourselves. We will never make you feel badly if you haven't seen a dentist in a while. We are here to care for your oral health and help you get back on track caring for your smile. We'll be your partner and provide you with the best information available to care for your smile.

Yeah, but what if I'm still feeling nervous?

Many people are anxious about seeing the dentist for a variety of reasons. Although dental fear is quite common, we assure you today's dentistry is much more gentle and caring. We will take as much time as you need to talk about what to expect and what your individual needs may be. Dr. Farr and all his staff are very patient and understanding.

What is the "Whiter Teeth for Life" program?

"Whiter Teeth for Life" is a program we offer to all our patients! As a new patient, we will create custom-made whitening trays for you and give you a starter kit of bleaching gel. Then, when you keep your regularly scheduled hygiene appointments, we will give you a refill of bleaching gel at each dental cleaning, so you can keep your smile bright in-between visits.

Can I whiten my teeth if I have crowns or veneers?

Yes, you can, however the crowns and veneers will not be whitened along with your other teeth. We offer a complimentary cosmetic consultation in our office with Dr. Farr so he can provide you with the best options available to achieve your desired results.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Yes, as long as your insurance plan is a PPO, meaning you are able to choose your own dentist. We will gladly provide you with the details of your particular insurance plan prior to your first visit.

What if I have an emergency after office hours or over the weekend?

For any dental emergencies, you can call our office at (415) 388-2172. After hours or over the weekend, Dr. Farr's emergency contact number is available on our voice message. Please feel free to call him directly with emergencies and he will get back to you promptly to ensure your dental care is provided for.
